about Ylva

 Ylva is a danish-german organist and conductor. She is currently enrolled in the Royal Danish Academy of Music Aarhus - RAMA - in church music studies. There she enjoys organ lessons with Ulrik Spang- Hanssen and Kristian Krogsøe and conducting lessons with Søren Kinch-Hansen, Carsten Seyer-Hansen and Helle Høyer. 

During her studies she was on exchange both in the Netherlands and in Latvia.

In the Netherlands she had the possibilities to practice at the historic Schnitger, Hinsz and Müller organs and got lessons by Theo Jellema in Groningen.
For her bachelors project she made a documentary about the organ landscape. You can find the film here.
Through the practice on historical instruments she got a clearer understanding of baroque music performance practice. 

In Latvia she dived in their outstanding choir culture and music education. During her stay she took part in two choir competitions in Riga and Budapest. She had organ lessons with Vita Kalnciema and conducting lessons with Aira Birzina. 

Through thorough single lessons Ylva had the opportunity to refine her conducting technique.      

Ylvas organ repertoire spreads from early music with f.ex. Michelangelo Rossi over Buxtehude, Bach, Reger, Vierne to modern composers like Enjott Schneider or Peteris Vasks. 

She has conducted works by Händel, Vivaldi, Bach, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Brahms, Ola Gjelo, Arvo Pärt and many more.
